An Activity Pool has a specified health goal based on data for a specified time frame, for example number of steps per day for one week. The goal can be to do 7.500 steps every day for 7 days in a row.
An Activity Pool can hold a specific amount of cheat days. A cheat day is a day in which you don’t have to complete your goal. The number of cheat days cannot be equal to or lower than the timeframe of the Activity Pool duration. An example of an activity pool with cheat days can be: Do 7.500 steps every day for 14 days in a row and you have 2 cheat days. You will achieve the Activity Pool goal if you do 12/14 days with 7.500 steps or more.
Each Activity Pool is open for registration for a period of time. The window for participation closes when the Activity Pool starts. To join an Activity Pool you have to enter within the registration period.
To participate in Activity Pools you need to be at least 18 years old.
HealthBlocks allows streaming data from different health applications and devices. Currently you can connect the following health apps:
To enter an Activity Pool you need to pay an entry fee up front. See it as a registration fee to participate in an event. All entry fees of a specific Activity Pool will form a prize pot that will be divided over all participants that successfully complete the challenge. This means that if you complete the Activity Pool Challenge you will always earn back your entry fee and possibly additional rewards! If you don't successfully complete the challenge you will loose your entry fee.
The goal of HealthBlocks is to stimulate people to build up healthy habits in a fun and supportive environment. We trust our users to play fair and have good sportsmanship. We strive to be a community that supports and motivates each other to be active. Users who want to manipulate the challenge are selling themselves short. They are depriving themselves of the opportunity to truly win the challenge. We will flag suspicious behavior and act when necessary.
To participate in Activity Pools you need to connect to at least one health app that streams health data related to the Activity Pool challenge. The user is responsible to ensure that it’s connected to an app during an Activity Pool and syncing of the data. For example, you are responsible that your wearable is charged when you are collecting steps.
Great work if you completed the Activity Pool challenge! We guarantee you will earn back at least your entry fee. Also you’ve completed a health challenge and have gained better health, be proud of yourself :)
HealthBlocks will also take a commission on an Activity Pool, to cover the costs of running the platform. The commission is max 12% and can be lower in for example Sponsored Activity Pools. HealthBlocks only takes the commission when we can guarantee all participants their entry fee back.
Losing an Activity Pool means that you didn’t complete the challenge. Therefore you lose your entry fee and are not eligible for possible sponsored rewards.
HealthBlocks is designed as a health and data platform, focused on empowering users through data-driven insights and gamified challenges to support their health journey. However, it is important to clarify that HealthBlocks does not provide medical advice. Here’s what this means in practical terms:
By participating in HealthBlocks, users acknowledge that the platform is a wellbeing tool and not a source of medical advice. Always prioritize professional medical guidance for critical health decisions.
You can subscribe to a maximum of 3 activity pools at the same time.
A user that is subscribed to an Activity Pool can leave the Activity Pool before the starting date and get a refund of the entry fee. If the Activity Pool has started it’s not possible to leave and get refunded.
Rewards are for those that successfully complete the challenge of the Activity Pool within the set rules. Each Activity Pool always collects the entry fee of all participants resulting in a participant prize pool, this is the regular activity prize pool. Winners of the activity pool share the total prize pool (minus the HealthBlocks commission fee). If an Activity Pool is sponsored that means that there are possible additional prizes for winners.
If an Activity Pool is sponsored that means that a sponsor provides additional prizes to the total prize pool. A sponsor can provide additional cash prizes or discount codes. The rewards can be distributed in 3 ways: divided equal, lottery, and a set prize per winner.
Divided equally
If the sponsor opts for a set reward divided among winners equally, that means that each winner gets a share of the prize set by the sponsor. For example a sponsor puts up €500 extra cash to be divided among winners of the Activity Pool equally. So if a pool of 100 participants has 60 winners, then those 60 winners share the €500 reward among them. Be reminded that the 60 winners also share the regular Activity Pool prize pool.
Lottery
With the lottery system a sponsor can add a number of prizes that are distributed among winners based randomly (lottery system). For example a sponsor provides 10 rewards of €50 to be randomly distributed among winners of the activity pool. So if a pool of 100 participants has 60 winners, then 10 out of the 60 winners will receive €50. Be reminded that the 60 winners always share the regular Activity Pool prize pool.
Set prize per winner
With this reward type a sponsor specifies a reward that each winner gets. For example a sponsor rewards every winner with a discount code of 10% or €2. So lets say a pool of 100 participants has 60 winners, then those 60 winners will each get a 10% discount code or €2 . Be reminded that the 60 winners also share the regular Activity Pool prize pool.
You win by completing the Activity Pool challenge. Check the section of rewards to learn more about how rewards work.
